Shadows sighted in Kurbads

14th February is the day of shadows in Latvia when pupils from all around the country go to establishments and watch different employees at work, getting to know their future professions better. Traditionally, Kurbads also welcomed pupils to see how the establishment operates.

The Shadow day is globally recognized Junior Achievement educational program for pupils from 1st to 12th grade. Pupils visit work places and in 4-6 hours watch professions they are interested in future.

Kurbads was visited by pupils from Smiltene, Vecpiebalga, Krimulda and Rīga. Their day started with a presentation from Kristīne Rīmene, head of logistics division. After a brief introduction shadows followed Anatolijs Vasiļjevs, seasoned veteran of Kurbads, manager of driver’s education.  He told about long time career in the establishment and revealed secrets of successful loading and unloading of car carriers.

This year, they were especially interested in technical stuff – car carrier repair and maintenance that’s why they had the chance to visit Kurbads truck service manager Tomass Bēvalds who told them about everyday’s work and how he manages the work of mechanics. Also, mechanics told pupils different key aspects about truck repairs.

Maybe one day our shadows will join Kurbads in different status.
