Kurbads receives “Safest Car Park” award

On Wednesday 9th of March winners of “BALTA” annual competition “Safest Car Park 2015” were announced. Vehicle transport and logistics company “Kurbads” won the first prize in the cargo and special usage transport category.

The purpose of the competition is to find Latvian establishments who manage their car parks in the most successful way. After a victory in the competition in 2013 and second place in 2014, “Kurbads” returned to the winning ways.

“We are very happy that our hard work to maintain vehicles in the best technical condition and to improve our drivers’ school is awarded,” Ivars Čiblis, head mechanic of “Kurbads” is glad that his work is appreciated. “The key to success is paying attention to details in car park maintenance. And of course to improve qualification of our drivers.”

“Kurbads” was awarded with safe driving courses (Test&Training) in Austria.

“Safest Car Park 2015” competition was organized in two parts. In the first part the information received from establishments was evaluated as well as the Road Traffic Safety Department’s statistics about the establishment’s vehicles. In the second part 15 best establishments were chosen. The jury rated the establishment’s risk management, vehicle maintenance and conformity, driver qualification and statistics of traffic accidents.

The jury consisted of Edgars Goldmanis, “BALTA” senior risk manager, Edmunds Ozolnieks, “DBS” member of the board, Normunds Avotiņš, car expert and journalist, Ģirts Belēvičs and Jānis Ģirnis, members of the “SEB līzings” and Daina Voita, owner of traffic psychology certificate.

The competition was organized by insurance company “BALTA”, Ministry of Transport of Republic of Latvia, “Drošas Braukšanas Skola” Ltd. and “SEB Līzings” Ltd. The aim  of the competition is to improve traffic safety in Latvia. Establishments with at least 10 vehicles are allowed to apply for the competition.
