Kurbads Celebrates 30th Anniversary and Christens Its 125th Car Carrier

Today, on August 29, the car transport and logistics company Kurbads celebrates its 30th anniversary, marking the occasion with the christening of its 125th car carrier.
Founded in 1995, just a few years after Latvia regained independence, Kurbads has grown into one of the most recognized logistics brands in the Baltics. Its success is built on perseverance, high professional standards, and the ability to stay connected to its roots.
“Thirty years prove that a company can be built not only with numbers, but also with conviction and passion. We have always aimed to create more than logistics – to carry the Latvian story across Europe’s roads. What we’ve achieved is the joint effort of our team and our clients, but ahead lies the road we continue together,” emphasizes company founder Andis Pikāns.
As tradition dictates, the new car carrier was christened with folk songs and rituals led by folklorist Inese Krūmiņa and her creative group. The visual design of the anniversary truck was created by artist Alfreds Paulausks, inspired by sculptor Oskars Mikāns’ statue of Kurbads. The mythological hero Kurbads – a figure of supernatural strength created by writer Ansis Lerhis-Puškaitis – has become a company symbol of endurance, constant movement, and the ability to overcome challenges.
he anniversary car carrier, #125, is a modern Volvo FH 62T truck equipped with Kässbohrer technology. It is powered by a 12.8-liter Turbo Compound diesel engine with 500 HP, ensuring both efficiency and sustainability on long-haul European routes. The wheel has been entrusted to experienced driver–forwarder Reinis Pulkstenis, who has been part of the Kurbads team for over five years.
Today, the Kurbads fleet consists of more than 50 car carriers, each with a unique design. Their cabins feature Latvian and world heroes who embody the company’s values – perseverance, courage, and the strength to follow one’s own path. These figures have become recognizable throughout Europe, carrying both the Kurbads story and Latvian values into international markets. Looking forward, the company’s plans focus on developing sustainable solutions, digitalization, and efficient resource management.
