“Kurbads” services BMW i8
“Kurbads” vehicle transport quality is highly assessed by company’s clients. Logistics company “Kurbads” often provides transportation services to cars that are counted as exclusive in Latvia and also in the world. This time it is hybrid model from the legendary German car manufacturer – BMW i8.
BMW i8 is manufacturer’s first plug-in hybrid sports car. This automobile can be seldom seen in traffic in Latvia and Europe and it gets a lot of attention in the streets for its futuristic design. So far until October 2014 only 760 units had been sold globally.
Interesting fact is that lithium-ion batteries produce energy that powers front wheels, but three cylinder 1,5 l turbocharged petrol engine powers rear wheels. BMW i8 is all-wheel drive.
Electrical batteries deliver 131 horsepower. Using only batteries automobile can cover approximately 35 kilometers. Maximal speed is limited to 120 kph. Batteries can be fully charged in four hours. And BMW has provided that you are able to charge up your car for free in special charging stations.
Both engines together deliver 362 hp. BMW i8 has a perfect 50/50 weight ratio, it also has a lowest gravity point of all models manufactured by the BMW. This allows the car to have amazing grip, effective braking system and impressive dynamics – car accelerates to 100 km/h in just 4,5 seconds.
The passenger cell is made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP); doors with a CFRP-aluminium structure, an instrument panel with magnesium support, an aluminium chassis and a partition between the passenger compartment and boot made from thin glass; comprehensive safety concept and an ultra-torsionally stiff passenger cell. Car weighs only 1485 kg.
It is equipped with the latest BMW’s systems including Park Distance Control, cruise control system with braking function, rain sensor and Intelligent Emergency Call function as standard; optional driver assistance package with High Beam Assistant, a rear view camera, Surround View, Speed Limit Info including No Passing Info display, and Collision Warning with pedestrian recognition and braking function.
BMW i8 has earned a title as the best eco-friendly car.
