Participants from Baltics at “World Bus Expo” in Belgium
From October 16th to 21st Belgium’s city Kortrijk hosts the oldest and biggest bus and coach exhibition – “Bus World Expo”. More than 400 participants are presenting their newest products.
Among the big list of participants two commercial transport rebuilding companies from Baltics are present – “Universāls-LTD” from Latvia and “Altas commercial transport” from Lithuania.
Altas, the Lithuanian minicoach convertor, has completed a simple, easily-installed Intelligent Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (iPHEV) system, which can be installed in the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and can provide up to 45km of emission-free running.
The Latvian company “Universāls-LTD” specializes in rebuilding of minibuses according to the client’s needs. The establishment offers modified Volkswagen Crafter models for their customers.
It was a true national cooperation as the “Universāls-LTD” chose the Latvian vehicle transport company “Kurbads” to transport their products to Belgium. The logistics company also visited the expo to see the latest products.
The “Bus World Expo” is a wonderful place to follow the global trends of bus industry. Just like in cars and trucks category, the manufacturers are switching their priorities to nature friendly systems.
The main topic of the expo is the “Volvo 7900 Electric” bus. The bus is designed for bus routes of 10-20 km. Each minute of charging allows for 5-10 minutes of driving.
“We’re passing yet another important milestone in our drive for future sustainable transport and a cleaner, quieter urban environment. We can now offer a complete product range enabling the creation of electrified bus systems,” says Håkan Agnevall, President of Volvo Buses.
Three electric concept buses from Volvo are in regular and successful operation in Gothenburg. This electric bus can transport up to 85 passengers. Sales get under way in 2016.
