The most fuel efficient car carrier driver in Latvia has been determined- and it is Kurbads’ Juris Cirvelis
The finale of the fuel efficiency driving competition ‘Volvo Driver’s Fuel Challenge’ organised by ‘Volvo Trucks Latvia’ took place on Saturday, 4th of June, and the best result was achieved by auto transportation and logistics company’s ‘Kurbads’ driver Juris Cirvelis.
The 10 competitors in the finale had proven to be best in qualification. The victor, Juris Cirvelis, used 5,34 liters of fuel for 24 km. The runner-up used 5,36 liters, the third place winner used 5,48 liters.
’It is very pleasant to win in such a fierce competition, especially with such tight results. I think that the fact that driving a car carrier is my job and my hobby helped me win. I did well in this route- although I had to let some cars pass in a roundabout in Ulbroka, I managed to compensate for it in the long run,’ Juris Cirvelis, the most efficient car carrier driver, comments. ’My only aim for the grand finale in Poland is victory. That is the only option. I am hoping for luck, because luck is a huge factor!’
The start of the race was ‘Volvo Trucks Latvia’ base in Granīta Street 28a, from where the competitors continued on to Saurieši, then to a roundabout in Ulbroka, where they turned back.
In qualification, the winner Ivars Čiblis stayed in the 4th place with a result of 5,50 liters in a competition of 160 drivers.
The three best Latvian drivers will attend the Baltic region final in Poznan on 10th of June. The winner will receive the title of the best driver in the region and a new Volvo ‘’V40’’.
